I think it's fair to say that must people who attend Rebellious Jukebox nights would say they were fans of Roxy Music. I would call myself one. However, embarrassingly, until his week I never got their albums. I've listened and loved Roxy singles and have all of the first 5 albums in one form or another. It's the albums that I've never really understood. I have always played chunks of them and thought 'yeah! This is good' but then got slightly bored before the end. That was until this week and I've been playing the 2nd Roxy Music album over and over'. It has finally penetrated through and it was like having a road to Damascus experience. Has anyone else had a similar 40 year wait for their union with an album to be consummated? Does anyone have an opinion as to whether 'For Your Pleasure' is the best Roxy album. Should I move on to the debut album next?

Mr Temperance....well done with your delayed Roxy catch up. I rate the first 5 albums and the live album Viva! very highly. Although I've just realised I don't seem to have Country Life....Paul!

I know 40 years either shows persistence or my ears are set to a delayed gratification default. I'll probably discover that disco ain't half bad next. Funnily enough I've got the first three and 'Siren' (is that the name of the fifth one) on CD now but Country Life on vinyl. There again, that is the album, out of them all, that you would choose to have the larger cover artwork for. In fact that is probably why I bought it initially rather than any of the other Roxy albums. I do have a copy of 'Country Life' as well now if you want a copy of a copy. Obviously, without any artwork just my scribbled track-listing.
